A hotel hot water enquiry should describe the water demand and the system that the heat pump will serve. Room count is useful background, but it is not a complete equipment sizing specification. This guide explains how to prepare the information needed for a commercial heat pump quotation.
Provide the hotel room count, expected occupancy and the hot water loads included in the project. Identify whether the scope covers guest showers only or also kitchens, laundry and other uses. State daily water volume and the expected peak demand period separately.
A requirement in litres per day describes total daily use. It does not show how much hot water is required during a busy hour. Include the peak volume or flow, the duration of the demand period and the recovery time expected after it. If those figures are provisional, identify the assumptions for the project designer and equipment supplier.
Specify incoming water temperature and the required hot water delivery temperature. Include any seasonal design conditions relevant to the site. Share the proposed storage tank capacity, circulation arrangement and available equipment water flow.
The heat pump, storage and operating schedule should be reviewed together. State whether the project is a new installation or a replacement, what existing tanks or pipework will remain, and whether the system has a separate backup heat source. These details help define the equipment duty and the information needed for selection.
Do not compare capacity figures without their associated ambient and water temperatures. For example, the published ZR-188/SN1-DT hot water heat pump has two catalogue rating points:
Parameter | Condition A | Condition B |
|---|---|---|
Outdoor dry / wet bulb | 20 / 15°C | 7 / 6°C |
Water inlet / outlet | 15 / 55°C | 9 / 55°C |
Heating capacity | 188 kW | 158 kW |
Power input | 39.8 kW | 38.2 kW |
COP | 4.72 | 4.13 |
These values apply at the stated test conditions. They are not guaranteed performance figures for every hotel site. The 55°C outlet rating point also does not establish the model's maximum water temperature. If the project specification requires a different temperature or operating range, request confirmation of a suitable model and configuration.
The published ZR-188/SN1-DT listing describes 3N~380V/50Hz equipment. Confirm the actual site voltage, phase and frequency. A 60Hz requirement needs its own confirmed configuration and performance datasheet.
For projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other destinations, also provide the site design ambient conditions, installation constraints, control requirements and any redundancy requirement. Ask for the documentation required by the project rather than assuming that every configuration has the same documents or approvals.
ZHIEN supplied 50 ZDC70 heat pumps for hotel water heating in Brazil, delivered on 7 November 2022. View the project facts and installation photo. This is a real delivery reference, not a sizing formula for a new hotel. The case used ZDC70 equipment, a different model from the current ZR-188/SN1-DT example above.
